The subject of this memoir, the Rev. Robert Pollock, was a native of Muirhouse, parish situated about eleven miles south east the city of Glasgow, and was born on the 19th October 1798. Of his father, who was a very worthy and intelligent man, and good far mer, he was the youngest son; and the days of his early life were devoted to such pursuits avocations, as suited his father's interests clinations. The children of that class of people to which he properly belonged, seldom partici pated the advantages of an extensive education.
