Overall good condition. ; When our Federal Congress declared that a state of war existed between the United States and Germany the young men in the University left in great numbers. Most of them enlisted in the army, navy or air services, but many returned to the farms in response to the appeal for food. The young women entered nurses' training school or prepared comfort kits, surgical dressings and Red Cross work. The University introduced war courses and in the fall of 1918 maintained a Students' Army Training Corps.
