This book was written with young children in mind - those just beginning to discover the joy of books and the adventure of learning to read. It reflects the author's love of nature and all forms of animal life, with each rhyme paired with its own delightful illustration, giving every creature its own charming character. May children, and their grownups, find as much pleasure in reading these rhymes as there was in creating them.

Barbara Susan Eyre spent her childhood in a country village in Surrey where, from a very early age, she enjoyed gardening and took an interest in nature and her surroundings. She was a keen Brownie and Guide. She later ran a Brownie Pack for twenty-two years, developing an affinity with young children. Barbara worked in England as a gardener before retiring to Éire in 2014 where she lives with her partner, Brian, still spending many hours in the garden when the weather allows.
