Binding sound and tight, yellow coated endpapers tight in gutters, book free of markings. double page engraved vignette frontis by Maclise & Dalziel. Title page dated 1846, colon after London, verso has colon and commas. Illustrations by Maclise, Doyle, Leech, Landseer & Stanfield, 14 in number. 174pp with Oliver Twist advert and list of Dickens books, Christmas Carol up to tenth edition, Chimes up to Twelfth edition. Gilt bright on ribbed red cloth with blind embossed curly borders. Some wear to spine ends with 2mm fraying at top, cloth piece mostly present so capable of gentle repair, hinges supple and strong. Boards decently clean and spine evenly slightly sunfaded, all edges bright gilt. An early printing in the year after the first edition appeared, and in appealing condition. Size: 16mo.
