in-store, rare poetry case. Text block is disbound from original cover boards and missing half-title page as well as endpapers. Complete text in a full green levant morocco pull-off case. The first six editions of The Critic, all in 1781, are apparently indistinguishable except for the half titles. The present copy lacks the half-title page and thus the exact edition is unclear, though it is most likely an early printing. Levant pull-off case is lightly worn on corners and sunned along spine, not affecting legibility of text. Binding is secure and all pages remain attached. Title and last page are foxed and lightly soiled, not affecting legibility of text. Inscribed "From the Author" on the back of title page.
