Thomas Babington Macaulay was a British historian and Whig politician. This work has essays on a range of subjects including Milton, William Pitt, Lord Bacon, Madame D'Arblay and the War of Succession in Spain. In a full calf binding with gilt detailing to the spine and front board. Crest of Marlborough College to the front board. Externally, very smart. With a few light marks to boards and some minor shelfwear to the spine. Prize inscription to the recto of front endpaper, Reginald Wiggle. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
