Beschreibung
A handsome bound volume by Lord Macaulay, being a series of critics and historical essays published in the Edinburgh Review. New edition. Complete in one volume. In an attractive full calf binding, with gilt detail to the spine and boards, and marbled endpapers. With a frontispiece and a illustrated title page. Thomas Babington Macaulay was best known as a historian and politician, who is best remember for his seminal work 'The History of England'. Each of the essay featured in this volume were originally published in the Edinburgh Review. Among Macaulay's most notable essays featured in this Scottish publication was his essay of the poet Milton, which is featured in this collection of work. With the binders stamp of Wiseman to the reverse of the front endpaper. In a full calf binding, with gilt crests to the front and rear boards, and lovely gilt detailing to the spine. Externally, very smart with minor shelfwear to the joints and extremities. The odd small patch of light rubbing to the spine and to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just some scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Light offsetting to the frontispiece and illustrated title page. Very Good Indeed.
