Bookplate to inside front cover notes that book belonged to Henry Cabot Lodge (Republican Senator from Massachusetts and nemesis of President Woodrow Wilson best known for his opposition to The League of Nations ) , with notation of "Compliments of Author" but no signature. Personal Bookplate with Lion Rampant "spero infestis metuo secundis" motto and Tiffany & Co. at bottom. Book red cloth with gold gilt. Hardcover with No Dust Jacket (as issued). Boards with shelf wear, bumped at corners and spine ends with rubbing. Dust soil/ toning to page edges. Light toning to end papers. Pages unmarked. Binding tight, with no separations. Hinges intact.
