Exciting Historical Novel describing the events of the Prussian attempt to take Paris and then the attempt of the French Communists to seize power. The Hero is a young English Artist. Brown cloth cover with embossed foliate decoration and lettering to front. Gilt ground to lettering and decoration on spine. All Page Edges Gilt. Frontis Monochrome Illustration shows Cuthbert greeting 2 ladies on the coast while he is making a sketch. 8 1/4" Tall. Undated, early edition. Slight wear to cover. Some age darkening on margins and a little foxing, mostly marginal. Nice prize inscription handwritten on front free endpaper, dated 1915, signed by the Mayor of St. Ives.
