This large print is undated, but appears to be from the latter half of the 19th Century. The print depicts Nelson on the deck of the Victory in the midst of battle, having been mortally wounded. He is surrounded by officers and crew, while around the central group, flames, gunsmoke and the tumult of battle carry on. The print is in full colour, with quite delicate colour variation. I can't tell if this is hand coloured or printed, though I suspect the latter. The print has been mounted on card, which has warped lightly, this standing off from the glass at one point - though this does not detract. Close examination reveals signs of the print having been scratched in places, but retouched and the overall effect is attractive. The print comes in a newer frame from the 1970s or 80s, in a classic dark wood styling, with gilt edging, glazed. Will require careful packing, and shipping. As a heavy item, this painting will require extra postage. The frame is 75cm x 62 cm, the picture us 55cm x 42cm. A little dusty under the glass, but a striking image.
