8 x 10 in. lii, 687 pp.; 856 pp. Both have an engraved plate at the head of each text section. Title pgs with cartouche. Original bindings with gilt spine decorations. Red text edges. Both bindings have an early repair of green marbled paper over what were probably quite worn borads. The marbled paper is pasted over the old leather, and folded over the edges to the original pastedowns, which are in an earlier marbled paper, as are the ffeps. Condition is GOOD+ ; both joints show a little cracking at lower ends but both are quite firm. Vol. 1 has some loss and early overlay repairs to the spine ends, using what appears to be either calf or oil cloth. Text of both is clean and bright, with some foxing here and there. Text in French.
