Concise account of the military career of the Duke of Wellington, text in French. Demy 8vo (8.5 x 6 ins); pp 143. Endpapers tanned. Edges of the spine and tips of corners rubbed. With the large armourial bookplate of William Cavendish-Bentinck, 6th Duke of Portland (1857-1943), Master of the Horse between 1886 and 1892 and again between 1895 and 1905. A keen racing man Portland inherited the estate and stud at Clumber Park in North Nottinghamshire. Among the horses he owned was St. Simon, who won the Gold Cup in 1884.
