Summary: Donald John Maclennan was born in a traditional blackhouse in the village of Dalmore on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in The Outer Hebrides. The history of Dalmore and his childhood reminiscences of the village were recounted in his book Dalmore - Tales of a Lewis Village. In this delightful new book Donald continues his boyhood reminiscences but this time through the eyes of the many animals that lived on the crofts of Dalmore and those that came to visit. The Tales thus become Tails! Through characters such as Soho and Rupie, the croft cats, and Stowlia, the wise and faithful sheepdog, we are transported to Dalmore in the years just after the Second World War when the traditional crofting ways of the Isle of Lewis were still very much alive. About the Author: Donald John Maclennan was born in a traditional Hebridean blackhouse in the village of Dalmore on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis during the Second World War after his mother returned home to escape the dangers of bombing in Glasgow. Although the family returned to the mainland Donald spent all of his boyhood summers back 'home' in Lewis and witnessed the last days of traditional crofting in Dalmore. Donald now lives just outside Glasgow but continues to visit his spiritual home on the Isle of Lewis.
