Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: The story of the man who fired the first shot of the Irish War of Independence: one of the toughest and most able soldiers of the revolution. Buchnummer des Verkäufers
Inhaltsangabe: Dan Breen started the War of Independence. He was the leader of the Third Tipperary Brigade and he sustained 22 bullet wounds evading the British. After the War of Independence, he fought in the Civil War, taking the Republican side when it was obvious that the two sides could not be reconciled. Later he moved to America where, at the height of prohibition, he ran a speakeasy, or illegal bar. Back in Ireland, he spent several years in Dail Eireann, tried to establish a native film industry and continued to pursue a dream of a thirty-two county Ireland. This is a revised and updated edition of the successful biography which was first published in 1981.
Über den Autor: Joe Ambrose was born in Tipperary within a few miles of Dan Breen's birthplace. He works as a freelance journalist, writer, filmmaker, arts agitator, and is member of experimental hip hop group Islamic Diggers. He divides his time between London, Ireland and Morocco. His books include two novels for Pulp Books, Serious Time (1998) and Too Much Too Soon (2000); a punk rock book for Omnibus Press Moshpit Culture (2001); an investigation of covert punk culture from inside the moshpit, Gimme Danger (2004); a biography of punk icon Iggy Pop.
