Über den Autor: Dr. Denise Bennerson writes fiction and nonfiction literature. She has been a public school teacher for over twenty-seven years. Intially, she taught high school and junior high students. However, during the last sixteen years she has woked as a Resource Teacher for preschool children with disabilities and/or developmental delays in various settings. In addition, she teaches Head Start Teachers and other Day Care Providers at the University of the Virgin Islands to prepare them to work in an inclusive setting with all children. She has conducted numerous workshops. Her work with preschool children exposes her to all children and their wonderment about materials and situations. She feels this connection with children may have inspired her to write about experiences that they may face. She also feels it is imortant to preserve the culture through writing and she has attempted to do so through Daniel.
Dr. Bennerson, like fictitious character Daniel, has also experienced the wrath and devastation of numerous hurricanes, starting with Hugo in 1989. She has also had to go to various Local and Federal Agencies for Disaster Relief. She realized that the importance of going through any disaster is survival and this is portrayed through Daniel After Hurricane Marilyn.
