Publisher's original decorative dark green cloth, pictorial front boards depicting Stanley arriving with party in a row boat, gilt lettering and red highlighting still bright, general light rubbing to extremities but this very minimal, bindings still tight showing little weakness, clean internally, folding maps appear little used, a one-inch tear to front endpaper of second volume, plus light ink ownership stamps, otherwise a beautiful square set. Possibly a second issue as the title pages dated the year after original publication (1878).
