For over five years, David Jones (“David J”) and David Kilgour (“David K”) have written a series of columns addressing the most significant (and sometimes transient) issues of our present and future times.
Separate backgrounds in politics, academia, journalism, human rights, and diplomacy over a lifetime have provided a depth of experience for our analyses.
The objective has been to provide readers with cogent, well-developed, thoughtful, and hopefully engaging examination of these topics. Although not “academic” in focus, we have avoided devolving into media-style “shouting heads” (printed version).
Throughout our publishing experience, “David vs David” columns have been well received. They have sparked the reactions, both bouquets and brickbats, which any author appreciates. We believe our efforts have filled a niche which only “the Davids” with their extensive Canadian and United States experience have filled.
Consequently, upon reviewing the collection of columns, we were concerned they would devolve into lost electrons in the “cloud” of the internet. Therefore, we determined to assemble the columns in packages to provide readers in all fields with selections of our thinking (along with subsequent commentary regarding previous columns, touting our prescient observations—and admitting where we were wrong).
