Beschreibung
This is the 1959 reprint of "All the Day Long" by Welsh author Howard Spring, that was published in London by The Book Club. Spring was a serious, but successful and very popular author, creating stories for both adults and children. The jacket blurb is brief and to the point : "Maria Legassick is the youngest of the three daughters of a Cornish vicar, and she tells the story of what happened in a swiftly-changing world to herself, her sisters, and her brilliant, gifted brother, Roger whom she loved too well; Louisa, whom she admired but could never love; Bella, whom she more and more despised. Beginning in a world that seems unchanging, the book moves into our own time, clouded with menace and anxiety, and it leaves Maria where she began back in her Cornish vicarage, with nothing left but her memories." Readers should find the novel thoroughly interesting and satisfying. Very nice that the book's dust-jacket is still present. ************************************ TITLE : All the Day Long / AUTHOR : Howard Spring (1889 - 1965) / IMPRINT : The Book Club / PLACE : Charing Cross Road, London, England / DATE : (December 1959) / EDITION : Second Printing of the Reprint, issued through the Book Club / STATUS : OP - Out of Print / PHYSICAL DETAILS : Hardcover, issued through the Book Club; 447 pages; 4 5/8" x 7 1/4"; light blue, paper-covered boards with black lettering on spine; pictorial dust-jacket.
