Two pocket folders containing various material relating to John DePol's work producing illustrations for inclusion in the book named above. FIRST folder: There are eighteen sheets of paper showing wood engravings; the engravings and the pages of the book on which they appear are as follows: 1. The front door of the building, used on title page; 2. Double-page engravings of candlesticks similar to those used on a preliminary page; 3. Chairs in Rowfant Hall, used on p. 5 4. Rowfant Club front view of building, used on p. 17; 5. Rowfant front view with printed titling; 6. Rowfant front view printed on Vandercook Press; 7. Great Fireplace, used on p. 20; 8. Tall clock, used on p. 23 9. Rowfant Hall Deansgate Entrance, used on p. 30 10. Two skulls, used on p. 40; Lion s Head, used on p. 14 11. Fireplace ornament, used on p. 44 12. Rowfant Hall outside entrance, used on p. 48 13. The fireplace in the front parlor, used on p. 61 14. Rowfant Club bldg, view from E. 30th St. , used on p. 68 15. Three ornaments: a candlestick used on p. 72; a jazz bowl used on p. 34; and the entrance known as Deansgate, used on p. 77; Also included are : 16. Typed letter dated in March 1989 from DePol with a small wood engraving in the upper left corner; the letter is signed in ink: "John." 17. Typed letter dated in December 1991 from DePol with a wood engraving in the upper right corner; signed in ink: "John." 18. Groundhog candlestick (not used in book). Altogether, eighteen sheets show wood engravings. SECOND folder (blue) contains (1) seven photocopies of drawings and layouts of pages of the book; (2) a folded sample layout page with a copy of wood engraving loosely inserted; (3) photocopy of a 1991 letter from Neil Shaver of the Yellow Barn Press regarding using Eric Gill's Perpetua type face; and (4) photocopy of two pages from an unidentified work on Perpetua Roman and Felicity Italic typefaces, the first page of which shows a handwritten note: "2 pages set in Perpetua.".
