DEFIANCE CURIOSITY LOVE

An author with a failing career

A baffling mystery he must solve

The cruel line between inspiration and reality

Disenchanted and almost broke, Gregory Worthington leaves Australia in search of inspiration. He arrives in Malta determined to fix a dying writing career. Quaint surroundings, potential of a love affair, and the warmth of Maltese villagers fuel his imagination, but writing brings more confusion than satisfaction.

What is inspiration, and what is reality? Mystery still fogs the 20 year-old disappearance of Censinu Mifsud, a little boy who was never found. There is a terrible secret in the village, one Worthington wants to unravel, to turn into a novel. He proceeds despite warnings from a retired doctor and the antagonistic parish priest. Both are ambiguous about his involvement with a young Maltese woman, but are very clear about one thing: the author has no business nosing around his old rented farmhouse, looking for clues and disturbing the past.

Poignant and moving, punctuated by comical scenes and passionate interludes, Death in Malta is a powerful novel of love and loss, disappointment and dislocation, curiosity and consequences.
