The tales are told from the point of view of ten young men and women, hiding in a villa outside Florence, trying to escape the Black Death. It is thought that Boccaccio conceived of the idea after the 1348 epidemic.Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer and poet, an important figure during the Renaissance. He is best known for this influential work, which provided an essential element in the literary tradition of Italy. Externally, a little rubbed. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spines. Minor bumping to the extremities. Volume IV is lacking one of the spine labels. Spines are faded. Loss to the tail of the joints of Volume II. Loss to the head and tail of the joints of Volume III. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with a few scattered spots.
