"Denis Bushuev" is a family novel, the action of which takes place in the Upper Volga during the years of collectivization and Stalinist repressions. At the center of the narrative, all the threads of which are drawn to the villages on the banks of the great Russian river, are the dramatic fates of the Bushuev, Akhtyrov and Beletsky families. The author shows how people s insight occurred. Sergei Sergeevich Maksimov (real name Pashin; 1916 - 1967) - writer, in 1936 -1941. was imprisoned in the Pechora concentration camp, since 1943 - in exile in Germany, employee of the Eastern Department of the Ministry of Propaganda of the German Reich, co-editor of the magazine "Grani" (since 1946), since June 1949 - in the USA. Maksimov s novel Denis Bushuev and the collection of short stories Taiga were far ahead of the camp prose of A. Solzhenitsyn and V. Shalamov. The Revolt of Denis Bushuev is a continuation of the novel Denis Bushuev , the action of which takes place in Stalin s times, and it depicts both the inner life of people and their relationships, and the threat to this life from the state government with its camps, which ultimately destroys family.
