Mit dem Thema „Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a better life“ trägt die Region Frankfurt RheinMain den Titel World Design Capital® 2026. Das Motto „Gestalten wir, wie wir leben wollen“ ist eine Einladung zur aktiven Beteiligung an der Gestaltung unserer Lebensräume und unserer Demokratie. Design hat die Kraft, kollektive Prozesse zu gestalten, inklusive des Vermögens, Lösungen zu entwickeln und sozialen Wandel herbeizuführen. Die Autor:innen widmen sich den zehn Handlungsfeldern von „Design for Democracy“: Arbeiten, Bauen & Wohnen, Bildung, Gesundheit, Industrie, Konsum, Kultur & Medien, Mobilität, Öffentlicher Raum, Sport.

Matthias Wagner K is one of the outstanding German-speaking representatives in the fields of design mediation and design curating. After many years of successful freelance work as an exhibition organizer, biennial director, art and design curator, editor and author, he has been director of Frankfurt’s Museum Angewandte Kunst since 2012. Wagner K has been teaching design curating at the HfG Offenbach since 2015/16 as part of a teaching assignment, and since June 2018 he has been an honorary professor in the Design Curating and Criticism theory program. Anna Scheuermann is Chief Program Officer of the World Design Capital 2026.
