Elephant folio. Portfolio. 3/4 blue cloth over textured grey boards. Blue lettering on front cover. Foreword by Hans BÃ sch. Compiled and edited by Adalbert Roeper. This is a second edition of the work originally published in Munich in 1896. A fascinating portfolio of five centuries of German decorative forged ironworks, including 50 numbered b&w photogravure plates of historic port and trunk hinges, door hinges, door handles, locks, key signs, keys, etc, each beautifully printed. BÃ sch was director of the National Germanic Museum in Nuremberg. Counterpart to the portfolio issued by Roeper, "MÃ bel aller Stilarten vom Ausgange des Mittelalters bis zum Ende des XVIII. Jahrhunderts" (Furniture of all styles from the end of the Middle Ages until the end of the 18th Century). Text in German. Portfolio with some bumping, and rubbing to corners, edges and head & tail of spine. Front and back covers with some scratches, smudges and foxing. Interior with foxing to half-title page.
