One crease in DJ along length of spine, paper uncracked. Crown and foot of spine and back top corner lightly bumped. No text or illustration marred. One line of front flap summary has been crossed out with sharpie. Surrounding sentence reads "Two indexes, 40 photographs, [sharpied-out section] are included in the beautifully-bound hardcover volume." No date on title page. Copyright page states second printing 1985, dates first printing to 1977. xxii + 400 pages. Includes foreword by then-president if Southside Historical Sites, Inc., editor's preface and brief biographical introduction, annotated diary entries, epilogue with Rose's will, appendix listing Rose's ministerial acts, index to the diaries, and black and white photographs featured throughout text. About 20 total instances of light highlighting in yellow and green throughout the text. Two instances of annotation in margins of pages 144 and 174. Two former owners' names written on the front free endpaper in blue and black pen. Pages neat and bright, no text obscured. Pictures all pristine.
