It was first published in 1912 and was based on the French and English Dictionary of his father, John Bellows (1831-1902). The proofs were revised by Dr. Clarence Sherwood (Ph. D. Berlin) and Mr Wilhelm Eggers (M. A. Lond). "A Second Edition was issued in 1915 and since then there have been further revisions."
