Raubdruck der Ausgabe bei Elzevier von 1671. - Sein großes Sammelwerk über denkwürdige Taten u. Aussprüche [.] widmete Valerius dem Kaiser Tiberius; es erschien nach dem Sturz des Seianus (31). Geplant u. auch methodisch angelegt war das Sammelwerk zum praktischen Gebrauch des Redners u. für Übungen in der Rhetorenschule; es sollte eine leicht zugängliche, übersichtlich geordnete Beispiel-Slg. darstellen, der ein Redner mit raschem Griff das jeweils passende exemplum entnehmen konnte [.].
