Inhaltsangabe: The book presents work from 15 artists showcased in Dirtypilot.com s monthly online exhibitions during its inaugural year of 2007. These works embrace a range of movements and techniques: graffiti, street and urban art, as well as pop and outsider art, rendered in diverse media from spray paint, oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media, to simple pen and ink, graphic, silkscreen, and other transfer methods.
Featured artists include up-and-coming talents along with established artists such as Chris Daze Ellis, Kime Buzzelli, Bravo Jet, Albert Reyes, Papermonster, Chris Stain, Ghost, Ewok 5MH, Cern YMI, Dennis McNett, Greg Gossel, Stephen Tompkins, Enrique Martinez, Justin Bua, Michael Krueger and Daniel Johnston.
This collection is both a contemporary representation of the most riveting urban art of our time and a frozen slice of art history for urban art collectors and aficionados to enjoy today and tomorrow. This diverse body of artwork also stands as an enlightening sampling for collectors and art students unfamiliar with urban motifs. A sturdy, hardcover compilation of shows, Dirtypilot.com Year 1 Rewind dedicates 2-6 pages of illustrations and a biographical sketch to each featured artist. The introduction by site founder Alan Bortman offers insightful background information on Dirtypilot s origin and focal point.
Über den Autor: Alan Bortman is the founder of Dirtypilot.com What is (Dirty Pilot?), and why does it exist? I began DP because galleries aren't always the most customer-friendly businesses, and I wanted to help change that. There had to be a way for people to see new art and buy it in an easier way. Not everyone is spooked at the thought of walking into a gallery, but enough people definitely are that it made me want to try a new way.
