"True-life tragedies jump off the page in this dynamic collection of graphic novels. From the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor to the Great Chicago Fire and the space shuttle Challenger explosion, step back in timeto experience some of the worst disasters in history. With eight stories in all, this riveting collection helps readers understand how the most devastating events in history happened and provides valuable perspectives on the lessons that rose from the ashes of despair"--

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren: Donald Lemke works as a children's book editor and writer. He has written dozens of books for young readers--from board books to middle-grade novels--that often include today's most popular characters, such as Batman, Superman, Scooby-Doo, and more. He lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with his beloved family, which includes his wife, Amy, and their three growing-up-way-too-fast daughters.

Matt Doeden is a freelance author and editor from Minnesota. He's written numerous children's books on sports, music, current events, the military, extreme survival, and much more. His books Sandy Koufax (Twenty-First Century Books, 2006) and Tom Brady: Unlikely Champion (Twenty-First Century Books, 2011) were Junior Library Guild selections. Doeden began his career as a sports writer before turning to publishing. He lives in Minnesota with his wife and two children.

Blake A. Hoena grew up in central Wisconsin, where he wrote stories about robots conquering the moon and trolls lumbering around the woods behind his parents house. He now lives in Minnesota and continues to write about fun things like space aliens and superheroes. Blake has written more than 100 chapter books and graphic novels for children.

Jessica Gunderson grew up in the small town of Washburn, North Dakota. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota and an MFA in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has written more than one hundred books for young readers. Her book President Lincoln's Killer and the America He Left Behind won a 2018 Eureka! Nonfiction Children's Book Silver Award. She currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

Steve originally hails from Oklahoma, and is a 2007 inductee into the Oklahoma Cartoonist Hall of Fame. He spent over a decade penciling comic books for DC Comics. Over the years, he's lent his artistic talents to a variety of other fields, ranging from t-shirt design to spot illustration to kids meal toys. He resides in north Texas where he makes a nice living as a product illustrator and designer for seasonal decorative items, occasionally dabbling in comics art and graphic novels. His wide range of experience falls in line with his personal philosophy as summed up by author Douglas Adams: I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be.
