Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

First Edition. A Highly Important Piece of Early 19th-Century Native American Americana. Document No. 112 from the 19th United States Congress, 2nd Session. Formally issued as a "Letter from the Secretary of War," James Barbour, detailing the complete legal and financial disbursements made by the US Government to various Native American tribes, Indian Agents, and traders throughout the year 1826. Bound in a sturdy, classic full-leather utilitarian binding typical of 19th-century government or law library archives.Interior & Folding Documents: Preceded by the complete 14-page index tracking names and locations. Crucially, this copy contains the complete array of large folding tables and documents as called for by the text. These delicate, oversized charts are frequently missing or torn away in surviving copies but remain intact here.Condition: The sturdy leather binding has done its job admirably, remaining completely firm, square, and structurally secure. The internal contents exhibit historical water trace areas (tidemarks) to the paper, though this staining is localized and does not distort, blur, or afflict the underlying text in any way. The entire text block and all folding documents remain completely dry, stable, flat, and perfectly legible. An honest, structurally sound, and complete primary historical archive. Historical Insight: The Gales & Seaton PrintingThe Subject Matter: This document was printed right on the cusp of the infamous "Indian Removal" era. The data inside records the funding of Indian Agencies, treaty payouts, annuities, and goods distributed to tribes just before the 1830 Indian Removal Act. It serves as raw, unedited court proof of the financial framework of US-Native relations. The Printers: Gales & Seaton were the official printers to the US Congress during this era. They are legendary in American journalism history for creating the Annals of Congress and the Register of Debates, which are the only surviving day-by-day transcripts of early American politics.…

Shopbeschreibung

I have collected books most of my life. My collection has reduced now to about 4,000 items. I list a few more as time goes by! It is difficult sometimes to allow old friends to move on. Of course, they can find fresh enthusiasm from their new owners. No matter how many items you handle, there's always excitement and interest. It is vital however that my items are described accurately and I would hope to offer good value. If you see something that you feel is 'too high' for your pocket, don't hesitate to make me an offer. I try to keep the postage costs down, and within the United Kingdom this will be free. Posting abroad will be competitive, and often I will not ask for additional amounts if this is viable. But weight of items is the deciding factor. I will add images to my descriptions, and I hope that the combination will help you to decide. Regardless, always double check or take time to contact me for further information, or merely just to clarify a point. Ask for more images. If I can reduce anything I will do so. If you purchase more than one item, then offering a decent discount is likely. If items are not as described or you have a valid problem with any item, then I am happy to make a full or partial refund. This will be in line with all Statutory guidelines e.g returning the book in the condition it was delivered, and do let me know as quickly as possible. If damage has occurred then try to provide images. Ring me on 01352-810931…
