William Taylor, Minister of the Gospel, Perth (from title page). With appendix at rear. First published in 1807, the second edition appeared in 1808. This 1813 edition seems to have been expanded to 120 pages (the second edition was 92 pages). Rare title, & according to a previously listed copy online, OCLC lists only Microfilm copies. William Taylor (1744-1823) was a Scottish Minister, Principal of Glasgow University and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Princeton University shows the author for this title as William Taylor with different birth/death dates (1759-1836). Our research indicates that the aforementioned Scottish Minister was born in Perthshire, officially the County of Perth, which would make sense with this volume's title page designation "Perth". Small volume. Printed by Largin & Thompson. Bound in full leather, gilt-ruled spine, no external lettering (partial manuscript label to spine). NOTE: A FAIR to GOOD COPY ONLY. Front cover & ffep both detached but present, light staining & foxing throughout, former owner's ink notation to title page & first text page (name unclear) & contemporary name/date to ffep (dated March 20th, 1814), much handling wear with some pages chipped/worn at corners (not affecting text), both boards bowed & worn, spine worn, otherwise a good copy of a scarce title. 120pp. Shaw & Shoemaker 29921.
