Mottled paper over boards with a heraldic device in gold on front and rear covers. The spine shows a leather title label with gilt titling. The spine shows repair using tan plastic tape covering the spine and sides. All edges stained red. In the front of the book is a bound-in certificate, in Latin and dated 1847, apparently praising the recipient of the book as a diligent student. Several signatures appear on this certificate: J.A.C.
