This book is a portrait of the people of District 6, an area of Cape Town in South Africa perhaps best known for forced removal of tens of thousands of its inhabitants by the apartheid regime in the 1970s (after this book was published). Condition is near fine in a very good dust jacket. The ivory cloth binding is clean and bright with square corners, bright red title lettering, and virtually no wear. The sole exterior flaw detected is a small and faint moisture stain at the base of the spine. The contents are clean, bright, and tight with no spotting and no inscriptions. The illustrated dust jacket is bright, clean, and unclipped, marred only by old sellotape reinforcement to the top and bottom edges (barely visible under the removable mylar dust jacket protector) and small losses at the spine ends.
