Originally published individually in magazines such as St. Nicholas and Woman's Home Companion, the stories are brought together here with many gorgeous full-color illustrations and ink sketches by Warner Carr sprinkled throughout the book. Miss Fox had an "inflexible rule that only happiness and gaiety must appear in her books for children."
