PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS EXCEPTIONALLY HEAVY AND OUTSIZED. I HAVE TO CHARGE POSTAGE ON THIS BOOK.Since its launch in 1928, domus has been hailed as the world’s most influential architecture and design journal. Founded as a "living diary" by the great Milanese architect and designer Gio Ponti, domus has consistently highlighted the major themes and stylistic movements in design, from Art Deco, Modernism, Functionalism and Postwar to Pop, Postmodernism and Late Modern. Beautifully designed and documented, domus consistently presents the most exciting design and architecture projects from around the world. Reproducing the pages as they originally appeared, each volume is packed with articles detailing the history of design and architecture, and contains a specially commissioned text on the magazine's history and the major developments during that period, written by one of the magazine’s renowned past editors: Mario Bellini, François Burkhardt, Cesare Maria Casati, Stefano Casciani, Germano Celant, Manolo De Giorgi, Fulvio Irace, Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani, Alessandro Mendini, Lisa Licitra Ponti, Ettore Sottsass Jr., Luigi Spinelli, and Deyan Sudjic. All the volumes are thoroughly indexed, providing easy access to key articles—many of them translated into English for the first time. TASCHEN’s domus collection is a major publishing achievement and a must-have item for all design and architecture teaching institutions, practicing architects, designers, collectors, students, and anyone who loves design. Wallpaper Magazine Best Book Award. Wallpaper*, the ultra-hip design and interiors magazine, honored TASCHEN's domus collection with a 'Best Books' award. The judges–Ron Arad, Jane Birkin, Naoto Fukasawa, Matteo di Montezemolo, Ian Schrager, and Viktor & Rolf–chose the domus collection as one of their Six Best Books of 2007. Über diesen Titel

1960-1954: Design Goes Pop. This volume concentrates on the architecture and design of the first half of the 1960s, characterized by the coexistence of a number of different styles. The aftermath of the International style and Good Design were still noticeable whereas Organic Design, which had developed in parallel since the late 1940s, gradually lost its influence. From the early 1960s onwards, a new force took its place, geared toward Pop Art and popular culture, leading to Pop Design. This trend is particularly recognizable in interior design, where a variety of new synthetics and foam plastics replaced traditional materials such as metal, glass or wood, pointing the way to completely new designs. Volume V documents this with examples of designs by Ray and Charles Eames, Verner Panton, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, and Joe Colombo. On the architectural side, the impressive buildings of Gio Ponti, Carlo Scarpa, Angelo Mangiarotti, James Stirling, and Eero Saarinen.
