Inhaltsangabe: Donors often restrict the charitable gifts they make to a church or other charity. These gifts can be very effective in funding the charity s projects or other specified causes. The donors have the satisfaction of knowing the gift will accomplish certain of their charitable objectives. Donor-imposed restrictions create specific responsibilities for the recipient ministry to comply with ethical practices, generally accepted accounting principles and ECFA Standards. Since funds raised under the deputized fund-raising approach are often considered restricted gifts, this important topic is also covered in this book. This new book replaces the earlier 112-page version and represents the most comprehensive analysis of accounting, tax, legal, ethical, and other issues relating to donor-restricted gifts.
Über den Autor: Dan Busby, Senior Vice President of ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability), has been involved in the work of the churches and nonprofit organizations for his entire career. His career has been varied: 10 years with the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, where he served as Controller, 10 years as the founding partner of a CPA firm in Kansas City, Busby, Keller & Co. (the firm operates today as Keller & Owens) and 11 years as the Chief Financial Officer of The Wesleyan Church Corporation at their denominational offices in Indianapolis. Dan served 110 man-years on nonprofit boards and is a past national board member of the Christian Management Association. He has made speaking presentations in 37 states. He is a prolific writer with over 250 articles published. His two tax and finances books for ministers and churches have been annually revised and published by Zondervan since 1990. He co-authored A Christian s Guide to Worryfree Money Management, another Zondervan title. In 2007, Donor-Restricted Gifts Simplified was published and is the only book covering this challenging topic. He has received many awards. The National Association of Church Business Administration (NACBA) honored him with the Significant Contributor Hall of Fame Award. The Christian Management Association presented him with a Significant Contributor Award. Your Church magazine named him as one of the three CPAs in the U.S. who ministers would prefer to prepare their tax return.
