A reprint, being first published by B. Blake in 1815, date here approximate. The first of the Dr. Syntax imitations, 'The success of Dr. Syntax produced a host of parodies & imitations. With a frontispiece, engraved title & 13 further plates, all hand-coloured aquatints, in the manner of, but not by, Rowlandson. Bound in late 19th C. half crushed morocco, gilt, teg, cloth sides & marbled endpapers. Rubbed, the leading joint a little more so, but sound & tight. Vg. [Tooley 431; Hamilton 318; Hardie 168].
