A beautifully bound, pocket sized collection of Richard Sheridan's plays. Sheridan was a famed eighteenth century playwright and owner of the London Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. With an editor's note on the life of the author as a frontispiece. Undated, dated using prize bookplate. In a stunning full morocco binding with the crest 'Norfolk House School, Muswell Hill' to the front board. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown dated 1932 addressed to one Joan Hopkins. Richard Brinsley Sheridan was an Irish satirist, playwright and poet. His best known plays are 'The Rivals', 'The School for Scandal', 'The Duenna' and 'A Trip to Scarborough' This work comprises of all of the above as well as 'St Patrick's Day; or the Scheming Lieutenant, a Farce', 'The Critic, or a Tragedy Rehearsed', 'Pizarro' and 'Verses to the Memory of Garrick'. David Garrick was another famed eighteenth century theatre maker. In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to the extremities and spine. With the crest 'Norfolk House School, Huswell Hill' to the front board. Externaly, excellent with just some minor rubbing to the head of spine and raised bands. Small red ink spill to the front board at the top left of board. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown dated 1932 addressed to one Joan Hopkins. Internally, firmly bound. Just the odd spot.
