Map. Uncolored engraving. Image measures 14.75" x 19 5/8". Beautiful map of northwestern France including the city of Angers, circa 1650. Scattered staining, several tears along edges, only one reaches neat line (along top right edge). Two small circular worm holes to bottom right margin. Lower right corner missing. Jan Jansson was part of an influential family of map publishers from the Netherlands throughout the 17th century and beyond. They were based in Arnhem then in Amsterdam. They were printers, publishers and booksellers. Major publications were under the joint ownership of the Jansson heirs and their printing empire. A lovely example of this hard to find map.
