Rough cut fore edge. Extremities a little worn, including head and tail of spine. A few traces of foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. 1943 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 5 pages of black and white photographic plates, including frontispiece. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Vita Sackville-West's parallel study of the contrasting lives and personalities of two saints named Theresa. the Spanish Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-82) and the French St. Thérèse of Lisieux (1873-1897).
