Stitched blue wrs., vol. 1 only of 20 vol. set, 18.5 x 26.2 cm., profusely woodblock illustrated, usual edge & cover wear, contents clean & solid, 63 sheets, 19 double leaf + 6 single leaf illustrations. ILLUSTRATED BY THE CELEBRATED HASEGAWA SETTAN . . * This listing is ONLY for volume odd volumes from the 20 volume set. Typical size of each volume is about 18.3 x 25.6 cm, each volume is stitch-bound. . * Individual Volumes Available: . Volume 1: this has 6 single page and 19 double page images. with 56 double leaved pages in all. It has 8 pages of preface, followed by 6, 10, 8 & 4 pages of text; 4 pages of index and 84 pages of text & illustrations. This volume has a brushed title slip with some light water stain. . * Typical and usual amount of wear to the edges, corners, contents a bit thumbed, paper 'toned' as usual, a few minor and feint stains, a few small worm holes in the margin, 3 pages with small black ink splotch [not a major issue, minor], otherwise all pages clean. Excellent impression and registry. . The book was printed on very thin, almost tissue-like Washi [handmade] paper. All pages have been re-backed in the distant past with thick Washi. The work is now firm, solid & stable. . All in all, a better than average example. . *** THE ILLUSTRATOR: Beautifully illustrated by Hasegawa Settan. . *** DETAILS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL VOLUME: . Volume 1: 19 double-leave +6 single leave illustrations, with 67 single pages of text. By and large clean, there are 3 pages with feint 'tea' stain, not of major impact to the text.
