Internally very good, with some minor occasional soiling and foxing. The second edition of the earliest history of Argentina written by a native author. First published in 1816-17 in three volumes, this important history of Buenos Aires and the surrounding area is based on original documents. Funes was a major figure in the revolution in Argentina, and the publisher of one of the earliest newspapers issued regularly in the region. This edition includes a nineteen-page biography of Funes, signed in print by "un amigo de los servidores de la Patria." An annotation in a contemporary hand at the end of the article indicates that Mariano Lozano is the author of the biographical introduction. PALAU 95861. SABIN 26211. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the history of the region of Paraguay from the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century to the early 18th century when the region was governed by Martin de Barua, and Daniel Bustamante. The book examines the complex relationship between the indigenous population, the Spanish colonists, and the Jesuits who arrived in the region in the 17th century. The author provides a detailed account of the political, economic, and social challenges that faced the region during this period, including the impact of Spanish rule, the rise and fall of various indigenous leaders, and the role of the Jesuits in the region. The book also explores the broader historical context of the period, including the Spanish conquest of the Americas, the European powers' rivalry for control of the region, and the impact of the Enlightenment on the region. The book argues that the history of Paraguay during this period is a complex and multifaceted story that cannot be reduced to a simple narrative of conquest and colonization. Instead, it is a story of resistance, adaptation, and negotiation between different groups of people who came into contact with each other in the region. The book's insights into the history of Paraguay during this period are significant because they provide a deeper understanding of the region's complex history and its impact on the development of the Americas. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
