With the first major mass produced motorcycles emerging in the early 1900s, the motorcycle saw a rapidly increasing demand as a new means of travel for leisure and sport. These photographs show early adopters and hobbyists with their motorcycles. One real photo postcard in this archive shows a man wearing a motor racing suit posing beside an early bike model on the side of a country road. Caption in German on verso marked 1926. A series of four photographs shows a happy man on his new Indian bike; in one he wears a suit and fedora and in the other three he is dressed more casually in slacks and sweater with motorcycle goggles and trapper hat. Another shows a group of riders walking away from their parked bikes, including one female rider with her back to camera. Overall very good condition. Archive of motorcycle riders from the early 20th century.
