Could not find any info on the publisher, J. Edgar Ross. This pamphlet contains 23 B&W photographs showing the aftermath of the fifty-second earthquake in the cities of Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Sebastopol, and Petaluma, CA; as well as a preface titled "Earthquakes in California? " written by J. Edgar Ross. The preface includes a lighthearted summary of typical Californian reactions to earthquakes, followed by a description of the April 18, 1906 quake and its disastrous effect on the city of Santa Rosa. The preface mentions that the press has focused on the effects of the earthquake and subsequent fire in San Francisco, but states that Sonoma County, and particularly Santa Rosa, "suffered the most severely… it is believed that not less than one hundred persons perished in the wreck [of a building across from the Santa Rosa railroad depot]. " The earthquake is considered one of the most significant of all time, due more to the amount of scientific knowledge gained from the study of it, rather than the sheer size of the quake. It ruptured nearly 300 miles of the northernmost part of the San Andreas fault and could be felt from southern Oregon to south of Los Angeles, and east as far as central Nevada. ; B & W Photographs; Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall; Unpaginated pp. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 024220
