Hardcover no dust jacket as issued, in slipcase. Red slipcase in near fine condition. Binding of cream marbled paper covered boards with gilt titles and designs to spine and front board near fine. Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Kay Nielsen (1886 -1957) (illustrator). 1st Edition. Undated presumed first American edition (the first UK edition published by Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1914) . Small 4to, complete with 25 tipped in colour illustrations and b/w illustrations throughout the text by the great Kay Nielsen. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ in protective sleeve in good condition with a little rubbing to edges, top & tail of spine and tips of boards. Publishers yellow cloth binding with titles in red to spine and front board in very good condition with a little shelf wear to top of spine. Inside in excellent clean and bright condition with a few small spot of foxing to endpapers and the very occasional fingermark. Small 4to, xv + pp17-pp284 complete with 24 tipped in colour plates and other b/w illustrations throughout by the great Kay Nielsen. Hardcover in dust jacket. DJ, in protective sleeve, in good condition with some wit gilt titles to spine rubbing and chipping to edges, some small pieces missing mostly from top edge/spine and a little discolouration to spine. Publishers blue cloth binding with gilt titles to spine and blind tooled borders to boards in very good condition with a little shelf wear to top & Tail of spine and a little rubbing to tips. Inside previous gift inscription to ffe paper, a little toning to end papers and paste downs, a few sporadic spots of foxing and a tiny bit of yellowing/aging, otherwise all pages and plates in clean and bright condition.
