Early American chess book which attempts to introduce a new system of game notation, illustrated by the plate. The text includes the short essay "The Morals of Chess" by Benjamin Franklin at pages 237-241. The plate, depicting a chess board with squared numbered as a guide for the new system of notation, is very rare.
