Early translations into Swedish and Danish are uncommon. This play was a major factor in bringing Snorri's name before the Norwegian public. It was the first published Swedish tragedy that swept the nation and was quickly translated throughout Northern Europe and led to the publications of the great Norse legends in multi-volume sets.
