One of popular artist Randolph Caldecott's picture books. No date to title page, dated from Copac. With both colour and non colour illustrated plates and vignettes. This text is an elegy on the death of a mad dog, a poem written by Oliver Goldsmith in 1766. It was musically set by Bill Primrose. This illustrated edition has a few lines of text per page for easy reading. Caldecott was an English artist and illustrator born in Chester. The Caldecott Medal was named in his honour. His ability as an artist were generously recognised by the Royal Academy. He created a range of 16 picture books including 'The House that Jack Built' and 'Sing a Song a Sixpence'. In original paper wraps. Externally, smart. Some light bumping to the extremities. Handling marks to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with spots throughout. Very Good.
