'The English Garden' is a long poem on gardening, published in four parts between 1772 and 1782. This georgic poem uses nature as a vehicle through which to embrace and support Whiggism and Anglicanism. Mason's work of this period criticised the English government, and their handling of the American War. William Mason was an English poet, with his 1747 publication of 'Musaeus' bringing him much acclaim. His best known and most popular work was 'Heroic Epistle to Sir William Chambers'. Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are lightly age-toned with some light marks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with the odd spot and odd mark.
