Printed for the Author, London, 1786, 283 pp, 124pp, full original leather, 8 x 5 , 8vo. In good condition. Light scuffing to extremities with minor instances of flaking at edges. Corners slightly rubbed and bumped. Joints are tender, nearly splitting at bottom edge. Speckled leather remains soft and rich in color. Rubbing to surface of leather with a few small ink stains. An attractively bound book overall. Old hand ownership and price on pastedown. Pages 1-38 are affected by a small instance of worming to fore-edge. Fold-out diagram in good working order. Text is lightly toned with scattered foxing. Free of known marginalia. Binding remains tight and intact. A sound copy. Please see photos. Two volumes in one. Very scarce. Includes a fold-out table depicting the acreage for rotating crops! A noted Irish inventor of agricultural machinery and an innovator in techniques of husbandry, and arable farming. His special earlier interests being in Flax growing and turnips, Charles Varlo visited America and as a result here promotes the growth of maize. While in America, in order to (unsuccessfully) prosecute a legal claim for lands in New Jersey, Varlo met George Washington.
